Apart from the central board of education in a country, the states of the country have the state board of education also to conduct the local examinations. One of these state boards is Karnataka secondary examination board.  It is the local education of the Karnataka state. The board established in the year 1966 and has it s headquarter in the state’s capital Bangalore. 


The board is responsible to conduct public examination such as secondary examination, higher secondary and some local competitions. The board prescribes syllabus, textbooks and conduct examination as per this prescribed syllabus.



As all other boards do, the Karnataka board is also conduct examination twice a year, one being the annual board exam and other as supplementary exam. The Karnataka board was the first to introduce the process of conducting the supplementary examination for the failed candidates of examination of march in June so the candidate who would passed in the June examination will join the higher education in the same academic year from July itself. It saves the one year back of the candidates. The board also announced the result along with the candidates photograph attached with the mark sheet.
The board maintains a web site which contains information regarding time-table, results, model papers, examination circulars, tenders RTI details and others.

Like all other state boards, Bihar School Examination Board (abbreviated BSEB) is the board of education functioning under the government of state. Bihar school examination board regulates and supervises the education system in the state of Bihar. 
The board affiliates public as well as private schools in Bihar and conduct examination on the basis of the prescribed syllabus. It is headquartered in Patna. 

The board conducts examination twice a year, one as annual board exam in the months of February-March and other as supplementary exam in august-September. There are two categories for supplementary examination i.e. 'A' & 'C'. A means student reappears for all the subjects while C means student want to clear only in those subjects in which they failed. For the secondary examination approximately 5, 00,000 candidates appear at the examination every year. Along with these school examinations, the board also conducts departmental examinations such as diploma/ certificate in physical education and teachers training examination.


The best part in Bihar board of education is a provision for improving the result of candidate. If the candidate is not satisfied with the result, she/he may seek permission for the better result with application attached with the required fee. The candidate may apply for scrutiny for re-totalling the marks.

Rajasthan state open school is a registered charitable organization which provides education to the boys and girls who are deprived of formal education. As we know the girls in rural areas are deprived of the higher education because of the absence of schools and many other valid or invalid reasons, also the working men or women could not continue their studies because of the job. These open schools are the only way to cop up with all these circumstances.  


The mission of this organization is to educate the people without any maximum age limits, and mental ability. The priority of the organization is to educate the disabled and disadvantaged people.

It was established in 2004-2005 session in Jaipur. There are 441 registration centers all over the Rajasthan state where candidates can registered for the course. Minimum age of registration for 10th and 12th is 14 and 15 years respectively. 


The board conducts exam twice a year and the candidate have opportunity to give exam 9 times in 5 years if once he registered. Candidates can pass the exam as per their convenience and relaxation. Since the beginning of Rajasthan State Open School almost 334,723 candidates have joined the scheme.

NIOS Board

NIOS Board
National institute of open schooling abbreviated as nios is a national board of education for distance education which conducts secondary and senior secondary examinations for open schools similar to CBSE and other state boards. It was established in 1989 and headquartered in Noida , Uttar Pradesh.



The board provides inexpensive education to remote areas of the country. The examinations are held twice a year on fixed dates in the month of April–May and October–November. NIOS is also collaborated with Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and UNESCO. Apart from the secondary and senior secondary courses, NIOS offers other courses like: Railway Jobs 2015
1.     Open Basic Education Programme, which is a three level course--
·       OBE 'A' Level which is equivalent to class III
·       OBE 'B' Level which is equivalent to class V
·       OBE 'C' Level which is equivalent to class VIII
2.     Life Enrichment Programmes.

3.     Vocational education programmes for that prepares people for specific trades, crafts and careers.
  

For the effective function, NIOS set up regional offices , study centres in India, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Nepal, Canada and the United States.
About 350,000 students enrolls anually in NIOS which make it the largest open schooling system in the world.
